Peggy's Paintings
My name is Peggy Scholte and I was born in Balikpapan (Indonesia) in the year 1952. When I was 2 years old we moved to the Netherlands by boat and grew up in a little town in Noord-Brabant.
When I was a child, and even now as a grown up, I could spend hours and hours with only a pencil and paper. I drew my own fantasy world, which fascinated me so much, that I forgot about the real world around me.
But then the time came to grow up, so I chose a carreer in health care.
In my spare time I have always been painting and creating things in a way which allowed me to put my thoughts on a canvas.
Because I wanted to know more, I decided to take painting lessens from Lie van Oosterhout. She taught me about the deeper meaning behind a painting. I started with aquarelle and later worked my way into the finer oil-painting. After that Jan Michielsen, a well-known painter from Breda and Jacomijn den Engelsen from ‘De Nieuwe Veste’ in Breda, taught me to take my paintings to a higher level.
Over the years I have done several competitions. In 2008 I even became first in the Talens competition in Breda. I have also appeared in many exhibitions, for example in the CODA museum in Apeldoorn and the National Art Days in Rotterdam. 3 years ago I even had my own exhibition in 'De Steenfabriek' in Gilze, the little town where my life in the Netherlands started.
In recent years I have also been working a lot with clay that becomes ceramics after baking, I make fantasy statues, people that don't exist only in my head, such as Nature people, here I used feather bark branches and give them a name that suits them , even smaller ones my lucky mascots as I call them because each makes me so happy. I work with different types of clay brown and white, teracotta, coloring I do with waste of clay mixed with water (clay sludge).
